How to Avoid Doberman Puppy Scams in Georgia

Puppy scams are the number-one fear for buyers — and for good reason. The BBB logged roughly 10,000 complaints in three years, and the average reported loss in 2024 was $1,293, up 34% since 2019.

Red flags

Pressure to pay fast, deposits by gift card or wire only, refusal to video call with the actual puppy and parents, and reused or stock photos are all warning signs.

What a real breeder will show you

A legitimate breeder will show you the parents' actual health clearances (Embark DNA, OFA hips and thyroid, DCM1/DCM2 testing), let you meet or video the dam, provide a written health guarantee and contract, and never pressure you. You should be able to verify them through reviews and references.

At High Point, we put every clearance in front of you before any deposit — because in this breed, trust has to be proven, not promised.
